会話分析研究の国外での広がり（川島 理恵）

 2014年に会話分析の発祥の地であるアメリカ、カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校（UCLA）で開かれた第４回国際会話分析学会4th International Conference on Conversation Analysis (ICCA)では、世界40か国以上から集まった400人を超える研究者が発表を行いました。会話分析は、今やアメリカ国内だけでなく、イギリスを始めとするヨーロッパ各国、日本、中国や韓国などのアジア各国、ブラジル、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドなど様々な場所で発展を続けています。会話分析を牽引している研究者たちがそれらの国において、セミナーなどの訓練の場をもち、言語学、社会学、心理学、人類学、医学、工学など様々な分野において研究者が育ちつつある状況です。ここでは、特に会話分析の発展が特に盛んなアメリカとヨーロッパについて簡単に紹介します。

 アメリカ、特にカリフォルニアが会話分析にとって非常に重要な場であることは、他節でも述べられていますが、そこでは会話分析の開拓者の一人であるエマニュエル・シェグロフが始めた会話分析の体系的な教育を学部・大学院レベルのクラスで行っています。会話分析の広がりという点でもカリフォルニア大学系列校、特にロサンゼルス校、サンタバーバラ校、サンディエゴ校などがその主な役割を果たしています。UCLA社会学部では、これまでジョン・ヘリテージ、スティーブ・クレイマン、ターニャ・スタイバースらが、医療やメディアの分野で研究を行い、会話分析の方法論としての可能性を広げつつあります(Heritage & Maynard, 2006; Clayman & Heritage, 2002; Sidnell & Stivers, 2013;) 。チャールズ、マージョリー・グットウィン夫妻も、言語人類学の立場から、相互行為において身体的な資源が使われる仕組みを解明してきました(C. Goodwin, 2000; M. H. Goodwin, 1990) 。

 サンタ・バーバラ校でもジーン・ラーナーやジェフリー・レイモンド，サンディ・トンプソンらが中心となって、会話分析における中心的トピックである相互行為の本質的な構造に関する研究が盛んに行われています(Lerner, 2004; Raymond, 2003; Thompson & Couper-Kuhlen, 2005) 。また、サンディエゴ州立大学では、ウェイン・ビーチを中心とするグループが腫瘍学（がん治療）のデータを長期的に収集し、告知や治療方針の決定などに関して会話分析的な研究を進めています(Beach, 2007) 。

 アメリカ国内には、ほかにもニューヨーク州立大学アルバニー校においてアニタ・ポメランツが日常会話の構造を解明するだけでなく、医療や法の研究も発展させています(Pomerantz, 1975; Pomerantz, Ende, & Erickson, 1995) 。またウィスコンシン大学マディソン校では、ダグラス・メイナードが医療場面における告知や社会調査、自閉症などに関する研究を進めています(代表的なものとしてMaynard, 2003) 。

 次にヨーロッパでは、初期からクリスチャン・ヒースやポール・ドリューらを中心として、イギリスが活発な議論の場になっています。ヒースは発話と身体の関連性についての研究で知られ(Heath, 1984)、ドリューは制度的な会話の構造性に着目し、様々な医療場面や司法関連の研究を進めています(Drew, 2003; Drew & Heritage, 1992) 。現在ラフボロー大学には、このドリューの他に、エリザベス・ストーコーらの会話分析研究者が多く在籍し、精力的に活動しています(Stokoe, 2012) 。ジェンダー研究においてもスー・ウィルキンソンやシリア・キッシンジャーが会話におけるジェンダーの具現化などについて活発な議論を行っています(Kitzinger, 2000 ; Wilkinson & Kitzinger, 2007) 。またフィンランドではアンシ・ペラキヤが医療場面における医師の権威に関する研究を発展させています(Peräkylä, 1998; Stevanovic & Perakyla, 2012) 。エリザベス・クーパークーレンらは、相互行為言語学の立場から様々な言語の特性に関して知見を示しています(Couper-Kuhlen, 2014)。ドイツやオランダのマックス・プランク研究所ではスティーブ・レビンソンが中心となって、会話分析を使って語用論的研究を精力的に進めています(Levinson & Jaisson, 2006)。近年はスイス・バーゼル大学のロレンザ・モンダダ、スウェーデン・ウプサラ大学のアンナ・リンドストローム（Lindström & Mondada, 2009）、ドイツ語研究所のアーヌルフ・デッパーマン（Deppermann, 2011）といった人々によって、ヨーロッパが最新の会話分析研究の舞台となりつつあります。そのことは国際会話分析学会（ICCA）の初回がデンマーク・コペンハーゲン、第二回がフィンランド・ヘルシンキ、第三回がドイツ・マンハイムといったヨーロッパ各国で開かれてきたことにも表れています。とくに相互行為における身体動作や人工物のはたらきを調べるマルチモーダル分析（Deppermann, 2013）のトピックにおいて、ヨーロッパの会話分析者は主導的な役割を果たしています。

 最後にここでは詳しく述べませんでしたが、この他アジア・オセアニア・南米などでも会話分析の研究が広がりつつあります。森純子（1999）、田中博子（2000）、林誠（2003）ら、国際的に活躍する日本人会話分析者も増えています。日本国内での会話分析の広がりについては次節を参照してください。（川島 理恵）
